The Dachstein

The boundless freedom of the mountain world can be experienced at first hand on the Dachstein, the imposing UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. On the highest mountain in Styria, nature enjoyment and experience are combined in an impressive way. Even the ascent with the modern panorama gondola reveals the majestic beauty of the Dachstein massif - the skywalk, the suspension bridge, the stairway to nowhere and the ice palace with its "frosty" works of art allow everyone to immerse themselves in the uniqueness of the high alpine world.

Museums

The Schladming-Dachstein Region has a very eventful history to tell, which has been impressively presented in the local museums. The Schladming Town Museum in the historic Bruderladenhaus is dedicated to the mining history of the town and the origins of tourism, among other things. The Zeitroas Museum in Ramsau-Ort, on the other hand, offers a comprehensive insight into the strong development of Protestantism in the region, especially in Ramsau. Rural life is also presented in this small, very fine museum. The Winter Sports Museum at Hauser Schlossplatz is all about skiing in all its facets - from early locomotion for hunting and logging to modern racing.

Hohenwerfen Castle in Salzburg's Werfen is enthroned majestically on a mountain above the Salzach Valley, but is easily reached by footpath or funicular. Hallstatt

This small town in the Salzkammergut region has achieved world fame and has even been copied in China. The original on Lake Hallstatt, however, is unsurpassed and the houses steeped in history nestle against the mountain, which offers rich salt deposits. The oldest salt mine in the world can also be visited here and historical grave finds bear witness to a very long history. A walk through Hallstatt and a boat trip on Lake Hallstatt offer many attractive photo motifs.

The excellent location of Trautenfels Castle at the foot of the Grimming mountain offers a fantastic view over the entire Enns Valley, the nature-protected Iris meadows and Pürgg, the Kripperl of Styria. Changing exhibitions present topics with regional relevance in a professional and exciting way.
